New search: PolySync President
Founded in 2013, PolySync Technologies has a driving mission to advance the state-of-the-art of software functional safety by delivering products built from the ground up to enable safer autonomous vehicles.
PolySync is developing Helios, a safety-critical runtime for production-bound autonomous vehicles (w/a focus on Level 4 and Level 5 autonomy systems). This safety-critical product is the primary focus of PolySync’s near and long-term future. Helios provides a high-assurance hardware abstraction layer for hosting AV applications, as well as a high-assurance resiliency abstraction layer which orchestrates hardware and software to manage faults, so that the future world of high-utilization, fail-operational autonomous vehicles can be realized.
In addition to Helios itself, PolySync is also pushing the state-of-the-art on both the safety-certifiable software development lifecycle and the level of rigor and assurance that can be provided and proven for its capabilities. Because in this environment of unprecedented safety-criticality – replacing a human with software as the primary liability in a vehicle – how it’s made is as important as what is made. As part of PolySync’s transition from a purveyor of R&D enablers to production-bound safety-critical platforms the entire company has been through ISO 26262 training. All of Engineering, Product, and part of Business Development also went through qualification to become Automotive Functional Safety Professionals.
Helios is the result of learning from two significant phases of autonomous vehicle R&D. 1) PolySync Core enables early-stage development by providing a high-fidelity data recording platform which captures extremely high-bandwidth data from autonomous vehicle sensor suites and makes it available for training machine-learning models offline. Core has established a footprint in the market of nearly 80 paying customers (e.g. Toyota, NVIDIA, Qualcomm, Intel, Ford, Harman, GM, and others) and the deep use case and technology insights that resulted from that level of engagement continue to inform PolySync’s product strategy and roadmap. 2) PolySync DriveKit is a by-wire control interface which provides a method for computer control of current-model production vehicles (e.g. Kia Soul EV & Kia Niro). Built upon PolySync’s Open Source Car Control project (OSCC), DriveKit is currently in-use as an enabler for companies testing their autonomous driving ML-models, teleoperation solutions, and is a central component of TÜV SUD’s scenario-testing suite used as part of the German Government’s PEGASUS Project.
