New search (now completed): Pixelworks VP of Business Development/Strategic Accounts
Pixelworks, Inc. (NASDAQ: PXLW) believes every screen deserves the very best picture quality. Pixelworks has taken its Video Display Processing technology used in ultra-HDTVs and reengineered it for the power-conscious and size-sensitive mobile space with significant image quality enhancements, delivering gorgeous, vibrant, ultra-realistic images without power penalties. This means you can watch movies and play games anytime/anywhere with perfect color, image quality, and clarity on your mobile device. Pixelworks products are designed to reduce overall system power requirements and costs for customers by minimizing bandwidth, reducing panel costs, and optimizing the video display pipeline efficiency.
Recent design wins and validation of the Pixelworks technologies include an agreement with Qualcomm Snapdragon mobile platforms using PXLW display calibration software; a major partnership with Nokia and HMD Global to incorporate Pixelworks’ Advanced Visual Processing Solutions to future Nokia smartphones in volume; Xiaomi’s Black Shark 2 utilizes Pixelworks’ display technology in their industry-leading gaming smartphone. Earlier wins at ZTE and ASUS; OTA initiatives with AirTV/SlingTV are coming to fruition, as well as other exciting developments with Sharp, IO Data and Maspro in 4K STBs have all contributed to the momentum. Pixelworks’ Iris 5 processor has been successfully unveiled for future mobile applications and the pipeline looks robust. Pixelworks TrueCut software platform was recently adopted by Alibaba’s YOUKU video service.
The company designs, develops, and markets video and pixel processing semiconductors, intellectual property cores, software and custom ASIC solutions. Recently Pixelworks announced the Truecut video platform for cinematic motion and HDR, which enables content creators and streaming video providers and device makers to deliver artistic intent for motion and HDR across mobile, home-entertainment and cinema screens. All these solutions utilize the company’s core video display processing technology, which intelligently processes video signals from a variety of sources and optimizes the image for the viewer. The continued advancement of display technology and rapid growth of video consumption on digital delivery systems and mobile applications has significantly increased the demand for video display processing technology.
Founded as a fabless semiconductor company, the company has amassed an intellectual property portfolio of 350+ patents (issued and pending) in visual display, media distribution, media processing, encoding, and transcoding solutions. The company still enjoys #1 market share in SoC’s for projection and is moving fast in mobile, OTA transcoding and motion HDR rendering. Improvements in display technology have enabled high resolution displays with richer color where individual pixels are no longer discernible from each other. To unleash the full potential of these new high-resolution displays, it is essential to have an advanced display processing pipeline. The majority of mobile devices today lack such processing and do not deliver their owners the true potential of today’s content. Pixelworks has solved that and is delivering compelling solutions today.
