The Advanced Optical Technologies (AOT) division is the market leading entity currently serving the Document Security (currency & other high value documents), defense, Brand Authentication, Product Differentiation (decorative) and instrumentation markets. This group is comprised of the Custom Optics Products Group (COPG) and Flex Products Group (Flex). With revenues of approximately $170 million and the business growing over 10% annually, AOT will continue to be a dominant industry player and a jewel of the JDSU portfolio of companies. The Flex Products Group (formerly OCLI, acquired by JDSU in 2000) currently has five major product categories: Document Security, Brand/Product Authentication, Product Differentiation, Commercial Labels, and Film Products. With more than 150 US and international patents and a relative Who's Who list of Fortune 100 customers, this group has been built on innovation.
The JDSU Flex Products Group Portfolio is as follows:
- Document Security: Flex protects over 25 billion banknotes for over 100 countries. This represents approximately 80% of the total value of the world's currency. Optically Variable Pigment® and SecureShift® ink technology are used to protect passports, government ID cards, visas, and other high-value documents. Inks easily integrate into printing processes and provide striking visual color-shifting effects for immediate authentication of genuine documents.
- Product Differentiation: Products for manufacturers to create striking effects that enhance, differentiate, and add value to products. ChromaFlair® light interference pigments and SpectraFlair® light diffractive pigments alone or combined with conventional pigments and dyes create variations in color which change with the viewing angle or give a striking rainbow accent when hit with light. Customers include Cadillac, Nike, K2, and hundreds of others.
- Product/Brand Security: SecureShift® technology protects over $120 Billion of value in pharmaceutical, electronics, and image supply products with brand protection and anti-counterfeiting solutions. Overt and covert technologies include Phantom, MetaSwitch, and Charms brands, with applications including labels, packaging, and closures for many top brands in the consumer products industries. Flex's LA Label facility provides high quality pressure-sensitive label/tag solutions and the source of many of Flex's proprietary security label solutions..
- Film Products: Flex also supplies large, flexible, web-thin film roll-coating for applications like window films and conductive ground planes.
The qualified candidate will have the following:
- Track record of success growing revenue, margin and market share as a VP/GM or VP Marketing/Sales in a $100 Million+ proprietary technology & manufacturing company.
- Experience in leading/helping to transition a business to a broader set of applications and markets with positive results.
- Leadership style and values that can drive change, but does so in a positive way that involves the entire team.
- A history of driving customer intimacy evidenced by strong customer relationships and successful closing of large contracts around the world.
- Experience in highly engineered specialty coatings, CVD (chemical vapor deposition) products or physical security products/technologies will be helpful.
- Technical degree/MBA preferred.
- Positive experience with a world-wide direct & indirect sales force demonstrating positive geographical & market growth.
- Proficient in ISO and related quality systems and programs. Implementation or solid knowledge of lean processes a plus.
- Understanding of security protocols and/or experience in sole source of high value products a necessity.

Santa Rosa, California. Santa Rosa is the gateway city to the famous Sonoma Valley wine country and only an hour north of downtown San Francisco.
